Biography
The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960, and are widely regarded as the most influential band of all time. The core lineup, consisting of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals), and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals), ignited "Beatlemania" in 1964, leading the "British Invasion" and becoming a global cultural phenomenon. Driven by the chief songwriting partnership of Lennon and McCartney, the band revolutionized popular music, evolving from catchy pop hits like "I Want to Hold Your Hand" to groundbreaking, artistically ambitious studio albums like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road. Their unprecedented success and constant musical innovation permanently changed the landscape of music, studio recording, and youth culture before they disbanded in 1970.
